circa 1812, the number added later, with browned 39in. barrel, block fore-sight, moulded band and Tower proofs at breech, borderline engraved lock with crown over 'GR' device below pan and signed 'TOWER' at tail, borderline engraved ring-necked cock, walnut handrail full-stock, the brass heel-plate marked '28' over 'H' over '12', the right side of butt with a large stamped 'K 689', traces of other marks to side-cheek, the lower tang cracked at securing screw and fitted with an iron ramrod
